Joy's Princess Parties currently serves NYC and surrounding areas. If your princess party is in an area further away, you may be charged a small travel fee based on the additional miles. We keep these fees as minimal as possible, so don't hesitate to book if you are further out. We often travel an hour or more at little cost to you. Please contact us to coordinate your event if it is outside our service area.
WHERE WILL YOU ENTERTAIN AT?
We come to you! We will travel to any type of venue in New York that your party or event is located. Some venues have their own rules, so please make sure your venue allows outside entertainment before booking your princess party.
OUTDOOR PARTY POLICY
We do not perform outdoors during the months of June, July, August, and September for the safety of the performers. Our wigs & costumes are much hotter than most may realize, with many layers, and can cause a performer extreme discomfort, struggle to perform well, and in worst case scenario, even pass out. The performer reserves the right to leave the party if asked or forced to perform outdoors during temperatures higher than 80 degrees. A $50 inconvenience fee will also be charged to the card used to book should you violate this policy at any point during the party.
If you are planning an outdoor birthday party or event during the non-summer season, we are happy to attend! Please do have another plan in mind in case the weather turns bad. Since the costumes and wigs worn by our princesses are delicate and expensive, you must provide a covered or shaded area for her activities. Please also provide areas that are not dirty, wet, or otherwise detrimental to a princess's costume. The performer reserves the right to refuse to walk through, stand, or sit in an area she sees is muddy, sandy, wet, etc. Please let us know upon booking if your venue is outdoors. WHAT HAPPENS IF A GUEST BECOMES ILL, UPSET, OR MISBEHAVES?
Joy's Princess Parties is only responsible to entertain your party guests with princess themed activities. Please do not leave your children unattended with the character as our princesses will not be able to discipline them while in character. A parent or host must take care of any behavior or health issue that a guest may have. We will lead the children through activities for the entirety of the party and always encourage the children to behave, but the hosts are responsible for monitoring and taking charge of children who are not behaving or who do not want to participate in the princess party activities.
CAN I INVITE BOYS/GIRLS TO THE BIRTHDAY PARTY?
Absolutely! Our princess parties are for all children, regardless of age, gender, race, or disability. We will do our best to accommodate to your special requests and make sure each child feels included and has a special experience. Feel free to invite whomever you choose to the party, and we will gladly include them in our activities! We often get the question: "We have boys at our party! What do you offer for them?" And the answer is that we find most boys also enjoy our activities! Our story time is silly, the dancing is fun, and the boys even often participate in the royal coronation - and we're happy to proclaim them "prince of the kingdom"! They love the balloons, the magic show, and the big personalities our princesses bring to the party!
HOW MANY GUESTS CAN I INVITE TO MY PRINCESS PARTY?
For the Princess Promise & Royal Celebration, we include up to 15 participating friends/guests, including the birthday child. We want to give each child a special experience. If you would like to invite more than 15 children that will participate in the activities, you must add on a second character or you will be charged a flat rate of $2 per extra child. This is to make sure we will have enough time and supplies for each child to participate in all the activities (face painting, coronation, etc.). You may invite as many as you would like with no extra charge to the Glass Slipper or Tiara Party.
WHEN DOES THE CHARACTER ARRIVE? The character will arrive at the time you have scheduled and leave at the time scheduled. For example, if you have booked a princess from 3pm-4pm, we highly suggest you invite guests to arrive at 2pm/2:30pm. That way, everyone will already be there for her royal entrance! The princess cannot stay later if she has to begin later, and we don't want to rush through any of your activities!
WHAT IF A GUEST ARRIVES LATE?
Late guests are welcome to join in upon arrival, but character cannot backtrack to include latecomers (ie., if face painting is already over and character has moved on to a new activity, the late guest will unfortunately not receive a face paint.)
DO I NEED TO PROVIDE ANYTHING FOR MY PRINCESS PARTY?
We provide everything included in your party package! For example, if you've chosen face painting, then we will bring all the face painting supplies! (We may ask for a little water to dip our brushes!) Please provide anything that is not included in your princess package. We do not include food or beverages in our party packages and therefore you must provide any food or beverage you require for your party.
WHAT DOES THE PRINCESS BRING? The princess will bring all the supplies necessary for your chosen activities. She will have a bag or a couple of bags that will contain her supplies, and act as a place to hide her phone and keys. Our characters sometimes bring a royal assistant to parties with several activities. Our assistants are also performers; just not in costume. Their responsibility is simply to assist the character with the activities, keep track of time, and help make the princess party run smoothly. They are not in costume, they dress casual but professional.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN YOUR PARTIES?
All parties include an appearance by a professional princess in full costume & character, photos with the character, stories, and live singing performances! A few packages include additional activities.
WHAT ARE THE ACTIVITIES I SEE LISTED?
The Tiara party, Princess Promise, and Royal Celebration come with free activities for you to choose. The options include:
FACE PAINTING: The character brings a facepainting kit with kid-friendly hypoallergenic face paints. Each child can choose a design for their cheek. The character will only require a table for their supplies and a chair to sit in. MAKEOVERS: Character will bring a kit complete with eyeshadow palette, hair glitter. Each child can choose an eyeshadow color, receive glitter on their cheeks. (Time to complete depends on number of guests) DANCE GAMES: We’ll twirl, curtsey, do a princess wave, etc. We also sometimes play “Follow the Leader” and have the kids walk in a circle, copying the princess. (Flutter your wings like tinker bell! Now, swim like Ariel). For older kids and bigger spaces, we play freeze dance and princess hokey pokey. (About 10 minutes) PRINCESS DANCE LESSONS: KID'S FAVORITE! The princess will teach a few moves such as curtsey, twirl, sway. She will put them together in a little routine and teach it to the children. Lastly, they will perform it with music together, and then we leave the music on for about 10 minutes to let the children freestyle dance with the princess. (About 15 minutes) BUBBLES: The princess brings out her magic bubble wand and the kids can play and twirl and dance in the bubbles! (About 10 minutes) COLORING TIME: The princess supplies coloring sheets to keep and crayons for use for the duration of coloring time. She will take the crayons with her when she leaves. (About 10 minutes)
Royal Treatment, Princess Promise & Most Magical parties come with a Royal Coronation:
ROYAL CORONATION: Each child has a turn to be coronated by the character(s) with a crown to keep. The princess will ask each child if they are ready to become a princess, proclaim them a princess, and crown them. Each child will also get a turn to take a 'royal walk' around the room.
WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP JOY'S PRINCESS PARTY MAKE THE PERFECT BIRTHDAY PARTY?
The following are a few tips to help the birthday party go off without a hitch!
1. Please have the contact phone powered on and near you when it is close to time for the princess to arrive, in case the performer has trouble finding the location and requires assistance to find the party. We suggest giving them a 10 minute window before worrying that they may not arrive. We do our best to schedule parties with plenty of travel time in between, however; often princesses are coming directly from another party or event and therefore, traffic and other factors may delay them.
2. Make sure the areas in which you will have the characters performing are not dirty, wet, or otherwise detrimental to the costumes they are wearing. Please provide a space in which the princess may sit or stand to lead the activities requested. For each party, the princess will require: - A chair, couch, or stool. - A small table or side table for makeover supplies - Area for dancing if you have added dancing - You may want designate an area for the photo session before the party. Thinking of the background, lighting, and other factors will help your photos from the party to be the best they can be.
3. The princess will often park down the street so that her "carriage" will not be seen by the children, but sometimes it's not possible to park very discreetly. If you don't want them to see our cars, we suggest keeping children away from the windows, etc when the princess is scheduled to arrive. By the same token, it's a good idea to distract the children when it is time for the princess to leave. She will also only handle payment once she is out of sight of the children.
4. Please stay present with the children and character at the party should an issue arise. Our characters often bring a bag with them to hold supplies and of course, keys and cellphones. We do our best to be discreet with our 'ordinary human thingamabobs', however; please do not allow the children to dig through the bag, as it ruins the magic of the character and can cause the performer to become concerned they may lose those items and be unable to return to 'our kingdom'.
5. And last but not least, have your cameras ready throughout the party, you don't want to miss any special moments of your guests with our princesses! We encourage you to take as many photos and videos as you would like and be sure to share on our Facebook!
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION/ RESCHEDULING POLICY?
We require a $50 deposit when booking to hold your time slot. This deposit is nonrefundable. Because we are in high demand, this policy ensures that our time slots are only taken up by clients who plan to keep their appointment.
You may cancel up to 24hrs before the party. Cancellation will result in forfeiting your deposit. Any amount you have paid above the required $50 deposit is fully refundable at any time of cancellation.
Cancellation within 24hrs of the party will result in a charge of 50% of the party total, charged to the card used to hold the deposit.
In the event of bad weather, serious illness, riots, or other unforeseen emergencies, we reserve the right to cancel the event. In this instance, your deposit and any other amounts paid will be returned to you. This is the ONLY exception to the non-refundable deposit. Our performers' safety is top priority. We reserve the right to leave any party at any time if our performers feel threatened or uncomfortable. In this instance, you would not be charged for the party, however, your deposit will not be returned.
DO YOU JUST DO BIRTHDAY PARTIES?
Princess Pros does SO much more than just parties! We do corporate events, charity events, hospital visits, and also special appearances for proposals, prom-posals, signing telegrams, Skype videos, etc. We can offer these at a very low rate, just ask us to get a quote.
CAN I BOOK YOU FOR SOMEONE ELSE?
Of course! We offer gift certificates, which you can purchase and redeem princess parties using our online booking system. You can also pay for someone else's event or special appearance in partial or in full. Let us know when booking, or just contact us to set it up!
HOW DO I PAY YOU?
Princess Pros can now accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover debit & credit cards online. A $50 deposit is required to secure your party slot, which will be deducted from the total due on the day of the party. We now require all parties to be paid in full before the performer arrives. Should the performer leave, and the party is not paid within 24hrs, we will charge the card on file used to pay for the deposit.
DO YOUR PRINCESSES ACCEPT GRATUITY?
Yes! Our performers are trained professionals, and work very hard to make each party successful and magical. Tipping your princess is the same as tipping a waiter, it's traditional to tip 10-20% of your total package cost. If you enjoyed the experience your character provided, tipping is the best way to show them.
