Outdoor party policy
If you are planning an outdoor birthday party or event, we are happy to attend!
Please do have another plan in mind in case the weather turns bad.
We suggest moving the party indoors or to another time/date if there is rain or snow.
We will prioritize your party before others if it needs to be rescheduled.
If the weather will be above 80 degrees or below 30, we ask that you move your party indoors or to another time/date.
We reserve the right to reschedule due to extreme weather such as heat, thunderstorms, flooding, snowstorms, icy roads, hail.
If your party is outdoors, please provide an area that is not dirty, wet, or otherwise detrimental to a princess's costume.
The performer reserves the right to refuse to walk through, stand, or sit in an area she sees is muddy, sandy, wet, etc.
The performer reserves the right to refuse to perform outdoors in rain, snow, temperatures above 80 degrees or below 30 degrees.
If the performer asks for a reasonable accommodation to be able perform, (such as a shaded or covered area in the case of rain) and one is not given, the performer will leave, and a refund will not be given.
The performer will always communicate her needs before ever leaving -please do your best to help them give you the most magical experience possible!

However, we ask that you please do not leave the children unattended with the character as our princesses will not discipline them while in character.
A parent or host must take care of any behavior or health issue that a guest may have.
If a child becomes ill or upset, please do care for their needs.
Misbehaving children are still welcome to join the party, and our very patient performers always encourage them to have good behavior, or will change the activity to suit the needs - for example, a wiggly, talkative group might spend more time dancing and less time on stories.

You can invite up to 25 children to any birthday party package!
If you would like to invite more than 25 children that will participate in the activities, please add a second character or more time.
If not, we charge a flat rate of $2 per extra child. This is to make sure we will have enough time and supplies for each child to participate in all the activities (makeovers, coronation, individual photos, etc.).
You may invite as many as you would like with no extra charge to the Pretty Princess Party (30 minutes)

when does the princess arrive?
The character will arrive at the time you have scheduled and leave at the time scheduled.
For most birthday parties, (especially in private homes/apartments), characters will arrive in full costume, with their supplies neatly in a bag ready to go.
We do not need any set up time, so princesses do not arrive earlier to set up.
If you'd like them to arrive any earlier, you must book them earlier.
Due to the nature of our business in a busy city, please give us a 15 minute window to arrive.
We have one company vehicle and make every effort schedule our routing so each princess can arrive on time.
However, we are fully booked most weekends in 2023, and often coming from another party.
Last minute hugs & goodbyes at the previous parties may slow them down a little between parties. (And of course, traffic, getting into & out of apartment buildings, etc)
The performer will text you if she is running late and keep you updated on her arrival time!
We will also stay later if we arrive late to ensure you receive the full party time booked.
We will also ensure that your little ones get all the last minute hugs and attention they would like as well!
Remember - you wouldn't like if your party princess rushed away without that last hug or photo for your birthday child, so we ask a little patience when waiting for your turn.
Magic moments with little ones shouldn't be rushed!

What are the party activities?
More Details about each party activity!:
MAKEOVERS: Character will bring a kit complete with gel sparkles, hair glitter. Each child can receive glitter (ice powers) on their cheeks, and make a wish with our pixie dust glitter wand as we sprinkle glitter into their hair.
DANCING & GAMES: We’ll twirl, curtsey, do a princess wave, etc. We play a princess version of freeze dance where little ones can use their ice powers, swim like a mermaid, and fly like a fairy!
Our dancing also includes a magical game where kids will learn to DAZZLE as we do the princess version of hokey pokey!
PRINCESS DANCE LESSONS: KID'S FAVORITE! The princess will teach a few moves such as curtsey, twirl, sway. She will put them together in a little routine and teach it to the children. Lastly, they will perform it with music together, and then we leave the music on for a few minutes to let the children freestyle dance with the princess.
EMPOWERING PRINCESS/LEADERSHIP LESSON: Princesses are so much more than crowns & gowns, they are good leaders in their communities! Your princess character will lead the little ones in a mini lesson about what it means to be a good role model, how to help others around them, and grow up to be amazing, confident, & kind grown ups!
BUBBLES: The princess brings out her magical bubbles and the kids can play and twirl and dance in the bubbles to princess music!
CRAFT: Adorable paper crowns & crayons are provided for the little ones to color in their own unique way, then we will crown them a true royal!
COLORING TIME: The princess supplies coloring sheets to keep and crayons for use for the duration of coloring time. She will take the crayons with her when she leaves.
Most Magical Party comes with a Royal Coronation:

1. Please have the contact phone powered on and near you when it is close to time for the princess to arrive, in case the performer has trouble finding the location and requires assistance to find the party. We suggest giving them a 15 minute window before worrying that they may not arrive.
We do our best to schedule parties with plenty of travel time in between, however; often princesses are coming directly from another party or event and therefore, traffic and other factors may delay them.
If they arrive late, they will still perform the full amount of time you've booked. ie, if they arrive a 2:07pm for a 1 hour party, they will stay until 3:07pm.
2. Make sure the areas in which you will have the characters performing are not dirty, wet, or otherwise detrimental to the costumes they are wearing. Please provide a space in which the princess may sit or stand to lead the activities requested.
For each party, the princess will require:
- A chair, couch, or stool to sit for story time.
- A small table, side table, end or a table, or another chair (we're flexible!) for makeover supplies
- Area for dancing if you have added dancing
- You may want designate an area for the photo session before the party!
Thinking of the background, lighting, and other factors will help your photos from the party to be the best they can be!
The performer will help to arrange the children and pose them for picture perfect moments.
We are happy to provide a sparkle backdrop with assistant to set up & tear down. This service is just $100 to add to your party!
3. The princess will often park down the street so that her "carriage" will not be seen by the children, but sometimes it's not possible to park very discreetly.
If you would like to preserve the magic, we suggest attempting to keep children away from the windows, etc when the princess is scheduled to arrive.
By the same token, it's a good idea to distract the children when it is time for the princess to leave.
Cake is always a great distraction!

Deposit is due upon booking, and we cannot hold the date/time/character without a deposit.
Because we are in high demand in NYC, this policy ensures that our time slots are only taken by clients who plan to keep their appointment.
Our actors are professionals with amazing credits, and thus in high demand for acting gigs!
They often turn down other acting jobs to perform with us and make your child's party amazing.
Therefore, a cancellation or reschedule means a date a performer reserved will no longer profit them.
So the deposit goes to the performer if the party is canceled.
This way, we can always guarantee we will have a performer available for your party!
If you need to reschedule:
We are very flexible with rescheduling!
Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule.
There is a $50 rescheduling fee if your party is less than one week away.
This fee goes to the performer for holding that date for you.
If you need to cancel:

If a performer is made to feel uncomfortable or threatened, she will ask the host or parent to resolve the problem.
If it is not resolved, the performer reserves the right to leave and a refund will not be given.

Our performers' safety is top priority.
We reserve the right to leave any party at any time if our performers feel threatened or uncomfortable by adult guests or hosts.
If a performer is made to feel uncomfortable or threatened, she will ask the host or parent to resolve the problem.
If it is not resolved, the performer reserves the right to leave and a refund will not be given.

How do i pay you?
Joy's Princess Parties can now accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover debit & credit cards online through our online booking system.

We require all parties to be paid in full online 24 hours before the performer arrives.

Do your performers accept gratuity?
Yes! Our performers are character-trained NYC professional actors & vocalists.
They work very hard to make each party successful and magical!
Tipping your princess is the same as tipping a waiter, it's traditional to tip 10-20% of your total package cost.
If you enjoyed the experience your character provided, tipping is the best way to show them.
You can tip in cash at the party, online when paying the balance, or send a venmo with the description, "tip" (Including the date and/or character will also help us to get the tip to the correct performer.)
